Has anyone mounted a electric trolling moter on an Outrage? Bow mount or stern? What size ( pounds of thrust and length of shaft would be best?

When I bought my 18" Outrage last year it had a Minn Kota "Thruster" mounted to the Johnson 150's cavitation plate (or anti-ventilation plate, if you prefer).

A thruster is essentially a trolling motor bullet and propeller that is attached via a bracket. When the boat is on plane the thruster and bracket are out of the water. When you want to troll it's in the water. To steer you simply turn the steering wheel. There is a small rheostat that is connected to the bullet with a fairly long wire. You can move about the boat with the rheostat and adjust speed and direction (fwd/rev). It is actually a pretty slick setup. You don't have to mess with your Outrage's fiberglass, rub rail, etc.

If you go to Minn Kota's website they should have a picture of a thruster.

I removed the thruster and it is sitting in a box. If you're interested, I would consider selling it.
