Hello everyone.

I have posted in the past and recieved alot of help on locating (Thanks Bob)and remanufacturing a kicker bracket on my 1973 outrage.

I purchased a 2006 15 hp 4 stroke Yamah and it is proped with a 9 1/4 diameter X 12 pitch prop. I get about 6-6.5 Kts with the main motor raised (Steering by the kicker) and 4.5 kts with the main motor fully down to steer.

I researched other posts, and they say 6-7 kts is good speed to make. (I am not sure if it was with motor down or not)

Nonetheless, I was looking at getting a prop that is pitched around 7-8 inches. I was considering a 4 blade 10 inch diameter X 7 pitch. I am also condisering a 3 blade 9 1/4 inch by 8 inch pitch.

Any advice, and how much speed should I expect.

I tooksome pictures of the install and will post in the repairs section in a couple of days.

Thanks in advance.

Anthony

Tell the dealer you want a sail prop which will probably be the 4 blade 7".

If your looking for speed the 3 blade would probably do better. However, if you want a little more control during trolling etc, I have found the 4 blade 10x 7 better when you get the higher waves.

I went to a 4 blade with less pitch but it surprisingly lugged the motor more than the 3 blade. My thinking is that the 3 blade slipped more thus getting the motor closer to it's powerband. Speed was about the same.....
