I am the new owner of a 2005 130 Sport with a 40-HP four-stroke EFI motor. The motor never starts on the first turn of the ignition, but always starts on the second. I squeeze the gas bulb before I attempt either start. The shift and throttle cables are a bit stiff and there is a long throw from idle to the first increase in RPM, a kind of a dead zone on the throttle cable.
What is the recommended hours for changing out the plugs and will that help the engine start on the first try?
Is there an adjustment on the throttle cable to make it more responsive?
Is there a lubrication process for the cables?
Does anyone make an aftermarket shift and throttle mechanism for the 40HP EFI that is more responsive?
Thanks for any help!
