Hi,

I have a new E-TEC 50 on my '71 Nauset, and am pleased with the performance. It gets onto plane and cruises easily with four adults on board. I don't know how fast she goes, as I don't have a gps, but in the choppy water where I use her, she goes fast enough for me, and doesn't use too much gas.

It pulled me (190lbs) on a tube faster than I wanted to go.

A lot of knowledgable people on this site think a 90 is ideal. I like my 50.

I would say you are not going to win any races and this is the smallest engine to put on the 17, If you are not going to water ski and do not care about going fast it will be ok. I hope your family is not to big either, (the weight factor). If you just want to use it to go fishing and motoring around it will be fine. One thing you will not burn any gas, enjoy
