I am repowering my 1973 Outrage 19 (Whaler 19) with a 1998 Johnson Oceanpro 150. This has a 25 inch shaft, and my Outrage has a 20 inch transom, so a jack plate will be needed.

I would very much appreciate some suggestions as to what jack plate and prop would be best. Thanks in advance.

The CMC jack plate would be a good choice.

An OMC/BRP 14-1/2" x 19" pitch SST or Viper would be a good propeller choice as would a 14-1/4" x 17" Stiletto Advantage II.

Had a 175 ocean runner 25" on my 19 Revenge and she ran a 19" SST so your 150 on a lighter outrage should do about the same (50+mph).

I have a CMC 4" offset manual adj prepared to install on the back of my 18 and carry a 150 Merc 2 stroke.
No lag bolts. I plated both sides of the transom with 1/4 alum. (Work boat).

Check Cabellas pricing for CMC jackplates.

I have a boom truck (removing outboards is a snap).
Just for grins I am plan to do a before and after 4" offset performace comparison.

Go top ,...."Bob's Machine Shop.com" & select the manual 5" setback, 5" lift plate.
You can turn it around so it is only 2.5" setback, instead of 5" setback.
I have that jackplate on both of my whalers [ 15' & 20' ].
Call them at their 800 number & tell them what you have & what do they suggest.
They will tell you exactly what you need.
You might also order their transom back plates with their name on it.
It is a 3/8" thick backing plate you put on the inside of the transom & the bolts go over them,...also looks very very nice besides beefing up your transom.
They also sell the kit with all the s/s nylon locking nuts, bolts & washers that your going to need.
Cheaper than the hardware store.
I think $25.00
The plate is very, very, very easy to install, & you just bolt the engine to it.

Thank you to all of you for your great advice. It is much appreciated because this is my first boat, and of course, my choice was to go Classic Whaler...
