I just got my motor back from the dealer who put in a carb kit. This motor starts quickly and runs perfect at any rpm above 1200. When you go to dock etc. and have it in gear at idle, it will run about 20 seconds at this speed (900- 1000 rpm) and stalls. I replaced plugs and fuel line. What am I missing? Thanks

Willy you need to take it back to him, sounds like you are too lean which will blow your engine. When you rebuild the older OMC carbs they need to do a synch & link which is synchronizing your idle linkage. These do not have an idle screw adjustment, you have to adjust the butterfly linkage(in water, in gear) to get it right. |

Tohsgib, Thanks for the feedback, I called the mechanic, and that is exactley what he said, He wants me to haul it back to him, we will drop it in the water, and he said he can correct the situation while in gear under a load. I hate to have to do this after it sat there three weeks, but he is a good quality guy, has worked on my other boats for over 10 years, I give everyone an update, when i can find the time to do this. |
