It's on a 1999 17 Outrage II. The owner says it has 220 hours on it, salt use. If I remember correctly, the big Opti had some troubles, but I do not remember anything bad about the 150. John |

John, We have the same boat and motor set up with 47 hours. Have had several issues with the 1999 150 Optimax including new cooling system, throttle position sensor, injectors, ECM, high pressure fuel pump, etc. Previous owner did not have any of the upgrades completed and the motor is out of warranty. On my 2000 225 Optimax, I have had no problems but had all the upgrades and just completed it's annual service at around 600 hours. Still running strong. FYI, I can give you some info on the ride of the 17 Outrage II if you are interested. We have had it out in some pretty nasty stuff, but the ride is totally different than that of the CW hulls. Let me know if you need any additional. Andy |

Thanks Andy, we will get a good Merc guy to check her out before purchase. Hopefully the owner has kept her up to date. John |

I almost went for a ride twice with a 150 1999 Opti..both times was a no start or not stay running. Engine was parted out. |

Sounds good John. In addition to the cooling, the water pump and housing should be updated along with all the other upgrades. We were swinging a Merc 19p SS prop mounted two holes up and getting near 43 knots/50mph WOT. Looking at putting a T-top on her this spring. Andy |

Here are a couple of photos of her when we got her: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/Waha/HPIM0098.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/Waha/HPIM0099.jpg Sure looked like a deal at the time... |

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/Waha/HPIM0098.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/Waha/HPIM0099.jpg Jeepers, it could be the same boat. Just talked to my "client" about the Opti information and he told me the boat sold. It sounds like that was a good thing. OK, so we are still on the search for at least a Montauk with trailer in the Pacific Northwest. Who knows, we might have to wait for spring and go on a road trip. John |

Andy, what are you expecting to pay for a T top for the 17 Outrage II? JimL |

You will only have problems if the old owner did not get all the required updates. I have a pair 99 150 opti max's and have only had an oil check valve go on the port side. They run strong, and they have never let me down on the water. I purchased my boat three years ago with 180 hours +/- and I am getting close to 1000 hours now. I think the main thing with two strokes is you need to run them, the guys that let them sit are the ones having the problems. |
