What engine...what redline...etc would be VERY helpfull. If you redline at 5500 then you are perfect for top end, etc.

I have a mercury 150 optimax. the boat is about 1750lbs. With 2 people , 1/2 tank gas and livewell 1/2 full I got it to 50mph. I could give it more throttle but it would have gone over the recommended 5750 max. I thought a faster prop would give me a few more mph.

20" would be good or maybe even a 21.

For a bass boat, you want a Mercury Tempest Plus.

dvbase5,

There are many, many options for props that may be faster than your Vengeance.

You should find out where your OptiMax tops out at with the 19" Vengeance. There is no harm in exceeding the redline for a brief period. You do not want to exceed it for long periods however. A top speed test run of 30 seconds or a minute is not going to do anything to the motor. I have run my Mercury 150s past their 5500 RPM redline to 6200 RPM on several occasions.

The Mercury Laser II, Tempest Plus, Trophy Plus and Enertia are all propellers worth trying. The Stiletto and Turbo brands offer several more options as does the PowerTech line.

What, precisely, are you after? Top speed? Acceleration? Fuel economy?
