[What four-cylinder] 115- to 140-HP engine [weighs the least]? I seem to recall (but could be wrong) four cylinder engines in this class weighing as little as 360 lbs. I recognize the new [four-cycle outboard motors] will generally [weigh] much more. The 140 Suzuki is light at just over 400 lbs, but don't know if any other one is lighter. |

Engine weights can be found by checking each of the manufacturer's websites. I posted a reply for a fellow Outrage 17 owner on engine weights (90-115) after checking each site. 10 minutes work. |

I would bet that the new Nissan/Tohatsu 4 cylinder 115hp @392 lbs. is one of the lightest 115's (if you want a 4 cylinder). The Merc 3 cylinder 115 is lighter yet @ 375 lbs. :) |

Here is the list I did for Cindalyn: Under 375 lbs: Yamaha 90 4s 369 Honda 90 EFI 359 lbs Evinrude ETEC 115 375 lbs Tohatsu 90 315 lbs Over 375 lbs Yamaha 115 4s 402 Mercury 4stroke 90 and 115 is 399 lbs Honda 115 - 496 lbs Tohatsu 115 392 lbs Suzuki 115 416 lbs |

I believe the SUZUKI 140-HP four-cycle four-cylinder motor actually weighs less than its similar 90- and 115-HP models. The 140-HP model was described as Suzuki's "best selling" engine. For a while it had that power range all to itself, but now there are competitors 150-HP four-cylinder motors. Are there any motors in the 115- to 140-HP range that are not four-cylinder motors? |

There WERE 135 6cyls out there but not sure anymore Jim...Optimax? |

I thought the purpose of this thread was to discuss only 4 cylinder engines? Oh well, the Merc 115hp is a 3 cylinder and it is an Optimax. The 4 cylinder Merc 115hp is a Four Stroke. Merc also has the 4 cylinder Verado from 135-200hp. |

I originally asked about 4 cylinders because I did not realize that anyone had a 3 cylinder. |

So the answer to the question is: The Yamaha two stroke V-4 115 HP motor at 356 pounds. Next lightest is the Evinrude E-TEC V-4 115 HP at 369 pounds (375 is the weight of the 25" extra long shaft model) |

Honda. I forgot Honda. The Honda BF150 is an inline four cylinder 150 HP outboard. So the better question is: Who doesn't make a four cylinder 150 HP outboard? |
