Has anyone tempted [the] application [of a set back bracket on a classic Boston Whaler boat with Whaler Drive]? I have just completed some testing on my second set of Mercury props. First were a pair of 22P Bravo I's and most recently, a set of 23P Mirage plus. My original set of props are a pair of 23P Yamaha Saltwater Series II. The Yamaha props run up to about 5,300 RPM's and about 61 MPH. These numbers equate to a very modest slip of about 5%. The Bravo I's and the Mirage acted very similarly. RPM's were reduced to about 5,000, on both and speed also suffered only hitting 57 MPH. Also, both sets of Mercury props were about 500 RPM out of sync at all RPM except WOT when they got within 200 RPM's of one another. In both cases port engine was lagging. When the Yamaha props wnet back on, RPM's were sync'd at all speeds. The twin Yamaha EFI 250's, 25" shaft engines are mounted in the 4th hole (all the way up), however I believe they could and should go a bit higher. I get no ventilation at any time including slow, tight turns. By all means and research, and recommendations here, this set-up should be able to handle the 23P props. Lil help? |

It would be real nice to have a little more info on the setup in the image Jim linked to. I am at a crossroad with my 22 Outrage/WD and need to think about all of my repower options. If only I could have one of those old 150 Johnsons to replace the one I smoked recently. |

Crabby, I wouldn't be bothered with the re-power. I would just sell that classic outrage WD with the one remaining engine real cheap to someone in this forum, or perhps in this thread :). |
