Anyone have the shift cables changed out [under warranty] to the platinum cables to improve shifting performance?

My 2005 F60 with same year stock cables have worn through where the small clip holds them to the transom. Will be replacing this winter and have not heard of the platinum cables. Stock worked well, I guess the small screw holding that dual cable clip loosened up, allowing the sheath to wear through. I don't imagine Yamaha will warranty this for me after two steering tube replacements.
I'd be curious to how Mercury handles your concerns and what you think of the upgraded cables. zotcha.
