Topic:   Rev limiter on 1996 Yamaha 90

posted 10-01-2008 04:00 PM ET (US)         Is there a rev limiter on a 1996 Yamaha 90 3 cylinder outboard? I was out testing a new prop today with my jackplate and hit 5900 rpms. I was going to cut back on the rpms but a buzzer went off and it felt like the rpms dropped down to the 2000's with the buzzer sounding. I panicked and turned off the motor fearing I had blown it. It started up and ran fine. Thanks in advance Tom
