Has anyone tried using the various hub kits on the market that are interchangable with the Flo Torq? Have you used them on a Mercury prop? There are at least three or four hub kits on the market that that are supposed to be interchangable between all manufacturers. The Solas Rubex design is one I can think of in particular. I believe Mercury, Solas, Michigan Wheel, Turning Point, and Stiletto all use a interchangable design.

I have had a reoccurring problem with prop rattle with my Flo Torq III equipped Vengeance prop. I wanted to try some other hub systems to see if one of them works better to reduce rattle.

I was unaware that Solas now uses a square bore propeller hub but that does not surprise me as it is consistent with the other manufacturers.

Michigan and BRP use their own hubs that match Mercury's Flo-Torq design. Stiletto ad Turbo actually use Quicksilver branded Flo-Torq hub kits; they do not manufacture their own.

As far as I know none but Mercury (Quicksilver) have anything but the Flo-Torq II design. If you want to try a cushioned hub, then the Flo-Torq III is what is available for your motor.

PowerTech uses their own hub design that uses resilient rods that can be varied to adjust the amount of cushioning in the hub, but theirs is a unique design that will only work with PowerTech Cushion-Lok propellers.

Initially, I was pleased with the performance of the Flo Torq III. As I continue to use it though, I've noticed that the prop rattle has begun to return. It does not occur in gear but rather in neutral.

I may go ahead and try another Flo Torq III in case mine was damaged or has a flaw or I may try the Solas or Turning point square bore hubs on my prop instead.

My owners manual for my 2004 60hp Bigfoot Fourstroke states that prop rattle and gearcase noise will not harm the engine. It is just that the engine is so quiet and smooth at idle when the prop does not rattle.

The Flo Torq III kit completely eliminated prop rattle with my Vengeance prop. Why would you have rattle in neutral when there should be no force transferred to the prop? Something doesn't sound right (no pun intended). I never experienced rattle when in neutral.

The problem becomes more pronounced when there is fast moving current. This probably spins the prop while in neutral and creates the rattle. Just a guess.
