[The author informs us he is giving some thought to] adding a SE Sport 300 [foil appendage to the anti-ventilation plate of the Mercury OptiMax 200-HP motor] on my [Boston Whaler 205] Conquest. My main reason is to slow my on plane speed while returning from the tuna grounds off the Oregon coast. I do not have trim tabs and would rather not spend the money if I can get around it. Does anyone have any experience with this [the SE SPORT 300] hydrofoil?

Just a guess but I doubt it would prove very useful on a boat as large and heavy as yours. I would think another propeller should be considered.

[One year later, the thread has been revived in order to ask:] Just curious? Did you add the fin? I have a 205 as well with the same engine. My rig will cruise nicely at about 2,400-RPM and at about 20-MPH.
