I read with interest the article on Engine Brackets and am convinced this is the way to go. I am building a 17' Whaler type boat in the Glen - L fashion which was originally designed with a 5 degree negative transom. Of course, a negative transom creates difficulty in vessel trim with an outboard motor thus the decision to use an extended engine bracket. The aftermarket units described in your article are suited for standard transoms and are cost inhibitive - especially a custom unit for my boat. Is there any design plans or stress factors available for a hand-crafted unit to fit my bill?

Which Glen-L design are you building. The Dillon racing bracket is a good one and simple to build. I built a similar one for my 13 footer.

Thanks for the reply. The design is similar to the Revenge 19' but shortened to 17'. A neighbor began construction but passed away. Not a Glen - L design but built in the method. Thanks for the info, it will help.
