[Seeks performance test data from use of a four-blade BRP 13 x 17] ROGUE propeller on a MONTAUK 17 with an Evinrude E-TEC 90. This was recommended by an [Evinrude and OMC] dealer in Lindenhurst, NY.Martin

[Emended article to turn the red ROUGE propeller into the BRP ROGUE propeller, Evindure to Evinrude, and OME to OMC.]

If you can talk Ralphie into loaning me that prop I will gladly test it out for you on my 1985 Montauk with a 90hp E-Tec. His shop is just around the corner from me.

On the other hand, I'd bet the 15 inch pitch Stiletto prop I've been using for almost 5 years is probably just as good as the Rogue.

Paul;

Mmmmmmmmmm......that would save me return postage AND compare it with my second choice your... Stiletto.

What is your top end and fuel?

I am pusing BRP SST 13 7/8" x 15... my tach a little out of wack as per dealer.

Fuel consumption here is almost 5 nautical mpg.

I carry a lot of weight though, 40 gallons of fuel, a teak deck from anchore hatch to consol and a 15 HP 4 stroke kicker, plus all kinds of tackle boxes, water, rig hooks, etc.

The engine sits on a Rite Hite jack plate and is fitted with a s/s "Turbo Fin from Merritt Island Fla.

My top end is only 33 knots.
Ralph should oblige,,,,he is into checking out various props and riggs.

PS don't tell him you talked to be....sent him an e-mail with link shortly after I talked to him....I found the same prop 30 smackers less than his....Blew up that bridge.

Martin:

My top speed is about 41-42 mph by GPS. I usually run a bit lighter than you: myself (185 pounds), dog (115 pounds), 5-10 gallons of fuel, and a large cooler full of anchors, lines, and water for the pooch. Add some fishing gear. Fuel consumption is not really known other than that I burn a lot more when running full bore than I do when I run at 4000 rpms (not as often as when I am running 5000 rpms). Having just repowered a 22 Outrage with a 250hp engine I can say that the Montauk burns a lot less and is what I use whenever it's nice out.

I like the Stiletto as do at least several other folks here. It seems to tolerate a high running position very well so your jack plate should not pose any problems (my engine is mounted directly to the transom in the third hole from the top). When I do have extra weight on the rig I never have any problems planing off or cruising. It will also hold a plane at fairly low speeds.

I'll let you know if Ralph at Lindenhurst Outboard is willing to loan me one of those props to trial.

If you contact ratherwhaling from this forum he may be able to offer you a decent deal on the Stiletto.

Good luck!

Paul
