Hi all. What was the original propeller on a 2001 Dauntless 16 with a Mercury 90 ELPTO? It that propeller the best for general running?

By 2001 the Boston Whaler company was rigging boats with engines and propellers at the factory. If your boat was factory rigged with the engine, you can probably check with Boston Whaler customer service to see if they have information on what propeller was the standard one used. They may have performance data available, too, so you can compare.

When Boston Whaler began to fit the motor to the boat at the factory, they also selected a propeller. I am certain that their propeller test was based on the same criterion as you propose, that is, best propeller for general use.

Those are two different questions. The OE propeller was probably an aluminum Black Diamond or Black Max 13" x 19" or a Vengeance 13" x 18" stainless steel propeller. The latter would be the better of the two. The former will cost less which is why the factory may have selected it.

The best propeller for your needs might also be the four blade 13-1/8" x 19" Trophy Plus or the 13-1/4" x 17" Stiletto Advantage or Turbo 1. A 13-1/4" x17" Stiletto BayPro four blade might serve you well too.
