Filters sold as water-fuel separating filters are designed to allow gasoline to pass through the filter but to stop water and other contaminants.

To learn more about water-fuel separating filters, read the excellent article in the REFERENCE section on this topic.

Moeller is now showing a wide selection of Racor-type filter systems. Has the Racor patent run out?

One way to get around a patent is to make several small differences in a product. It happens all around us.

L H G--Give us the number of the patent to which you refer. We can then look it up and see its expiration date.

I do observe that the MOELLER brand fuel filters appear to be almost an exact copy of the RACOR.

Moeller and others offering Racor-Type transparent bowl filters may have more to do with the recent surge in interest of filters. When demand rises you often see a greater variety of like products. Harbor Freight will probably be selling them for $15 soon.

I notice that in the Moeller Catalog nothing crosses to a Racor 3213 or any Racor for that matter. I'm not sure filters are a good place to save money. If you are installing new filter get the Yamaha Stainless Steel filter base from Andy at S.I.M.
