Hello. [Apparently upon measuring the peak cylinder pressures in a] 1998 Mercury 200EFI [the following readings were noted: in] cylinders 1 through 5, 145-PSI; in cylinder #6 140-PSI. Is this a good test? And overall, what is the reputation of a 1998 Mercury 200 EFI?

Regards Rob

Yes numbers are great. How good is the reputation? Been running almost 13 years so far.

Typically a tolerance of 15-PSI is allowed for variation among cylinders when reading their peak pressure. Your variation was only 5-PSI. This is within tolerance.

The numbers are good. How was the test done??? Throttle open or closed? Warm or Cold? All plugs loose? Any oil injected into the cylinder beforehand?

These type of things can bring the numbers up or down.
