I have a 2000 SUZUKI 15-HP outboard engine. I need a new prop for it. I spun the hub on the one I have now. I don't have any markings on this prop telling me its size or pitch. I took it somewhere to be measured and they can't measure it--too small. The motor is on an old 1970 13' Boston Whaler, and it has trouble planing off unless I go in the bow to help it along. Advise me on the size of the prop I need. Thanks.

OK--15hp Suzuki 15" weighs 97-lbs. It's redline is 5,400 to 6,000-RPM. Has a 1.92:1 gear ratio--low for a 4 stroke--and comes standard with a 3 x 9.25 x 9-inch propeller. Available pitches are 7 to 11. I would try an 8 if you had a 9. I assume this is a tiller as it seems no remote 15 was offered, only a 9.9 of the same version. Have you looked EVERYwhere for a part number or any markings?

Nick--The depth and breadth of your SUZUKI knowledge impounds a huge volume of data!

I am surprised that a 13 with only a 15 HP engine would not have trouble planing off regardless of the propeller used.

There are no markings anywhere on this prop. Ive had 4 diff set of eyes look at it. This motor is not used as a tiller, its has electric start and is rigged with teleflex steering.

Then try an 8". You can always have the prop shop "tweak" it. I wonder if your 15 runs the same prop as an OMC like most Suzukis do? That would be a BUNCH of help as they are readily available. 15 should plane it no problem. I know a guy with a 18 Tohatsu 4 stroke and he zips all over with 2 people. The Suzuki 15 is 300cc so not shabby on displacement.

Before I put a new E-TEC on my '69 13 I had a 1988 Yamaha 15HP engine on it. It planed with two adults and two children, and reasonably quickly. It wasn't a speed demon, obviously, but no problems planing.

I had a 13ft whaler when i was a kid, I had a 25 and then moved up to a 40, it was just as good! So I picked up this project boat for my son, i figure it was a perfect fit for him to learn the boat, etc. A 15 is what im stickin with for now!!
