Can you identify the mystery Whaler in the photograph?

Mystery boat is a Frontier 25... great looking boats but suffered from too much forward weight or so I was told by an owner in the Fla. keys.. I was interested in buying one but the tiny bunks space changed my mind... great, salty lines though.. beautiful.... The old man and the sea

Jim: You can't fool me on that one. It's a 25' Frontier model, only offered recreationally for a year or two, but found it's way into the Commercial Products division for a while, also. And I didn't cheat, or look in one of my catalogs, either!! On the prior Forum, someone in the Pacific Northwest had a question about removing an inboard engine in one of these and converting it to a twin outboard bracket installation. When we told him it would be about $25,000 he disappeared! You're probably going to be surprised how many others on this site will recognize it also.
We've got some real Whaler nuts here, not even counting Jack!

Easy. 25 Frontier.

Had a friend that summered on Mackinac Island who had one.

One was also owned by Detroit Edison back in the early 80's and went on auction. I attended the auction and put a bid in on it (can't remember if it was o/b or i/o), but alas, was outbid.

I peeked...

I've never seen a Frontier, but now that I have seen a picture of one, and had it identified unanimously by these pros, I'm going to act just like I know what I'm talking about if and when I ever do stumble across one...

I peeked too....Never saw one before but I actually like the looks of it. Many north west boats have this type design. What years was it offered??

I think it might be called a Boston Whaler "Pilot House"? Regards-JACK.

As we pulled into Bass Harbor for lunch, I saw the Frontier 25 moored fairly close to the head of the dock we planned to tie up to for lunch. I was excited by the find, as I had seen the Frontier in brochures in the early or mid 80's, in my formative Whaler years, and have always had the mental image of it as the biggest, toughest whaler. This was my first sighting on the water. In reality, while the pilot house looks great (like a little tugboat), it also looks cramped and stuffy. The owner was nowhere to be seen, so I couldn't find out any other info.

After lunch I had Mike and Deb Tremblay, who were cruising with us for the day, snap a picture while I idled by. I figured placing my fairly common Outrage in front of this Whaler rarity was a sure bet to get onto Cetacea!

This past weekend, while cruising in the Charlevoix MI area, I coincidentally spotted a MINT condition Frontier, in the desert tan color, no bottom paint, etc. Literally looked brand new, and is perhaps a more recent model from the Commercial Products division, since it had towing equipment on it. I'll send a picture to Jim. First one I've seen in years.

Alright, the joke's on me! For the life of me, I can't seem to find this picture. Is it on Cetacea? Now y'all have me curious!

On page 16 of Cetacea, it's the 1991 BW 17' Outrage photo.

Guys it's in the 4th photo down behind the Outrage --- the boat with the little pilot house ---- as noted by many it is a BW Frontier 25

Not positive, but almost, that I saw a frontier at the Bridge Authority dock at the U. P. side of the Mackinac Bridge on our way North a couple of weeks ago...

The boat is a 25 foot Frontier. Probably around 1980-1983.

It's a Challanger 25'. Sold quite a few of 'em. Mostly to the Gov't as they were the only ones who could afford 'em. Small cabin. Most went out with outboards and a few with Volvo diesels. Wish I had one now!!
