This message thread is for comment on Cetacea Page 48 which first appeared December 31, 2001 and featured photographs of Mario Cano's fine 22-Outrage Cuddy VICTORIA. |

The 22-foot Whaler hull is really versatile. We've seen it as an open boat (Outrage), a cabin boat (Revenge), and now as a cuddy. What year was the Outrage Cuddy first offered? |

Not being a coastal/ocean boater, I was curious about the anchorage photo (Ref. 48-04). It looks like there is some swell running in the anchorage. I think I see a slight wave along the hull in that photo. That must make things "interesting" in that harbor! |

Mario - Great shots. I think one of the nice things about this forum is that we can look at gear on your boat, and ask questions... of which I have several. What is the white instrument to the left of the helm? Clock? Fluxgate compass? I've got a Richie MagOne fluxgate on my boat, I love it. What type of depthsounder? I have a Raytheon V-700 and I'd like to get a "sunshade", like yours, to reduce glare. Your page prompted me to email Raytheon to see where I could get a 11-yr old sunshade. Do you have the standard fuel tank, 120 gal? I only have a 77 gallon tank in my 1990 22 Revenge. I like the radar arch, I'll have to figure out how to get one at a good price in Juneau. JimP |

Mario, Fabulous boat, a beautiful example of one of my favorite Whaler models. Three questions: Do you have any photos with all the canvas flying (I'm especially interested in the configuration of the windshield on the bimini top), and do you have any photos of the cabin interior? Finally, what boat length does your harbor master use to determine slip size and fees, is it "model length" or overall measured length? By the way, if you ever consider selling, please let me know....I'm just a few hundred miles up the coast from you in Santa Cruz (the town not the island). |

Thanks Gang For Your Comments! I've been under the weather for the past 10 days. As soon as I get my sea legs back, I'll begin to answer all of your questions. Regards, Mario |

JimH - I believe 1984 was the introductory year for the 22 & 25 Outrage Center Console Cuddys (the "official" name). 1990 was their last year. Reebock got rid of them, and the Revenges, in 1991, to push their new 1991 21 & 23 Walkarounds instead. In 1991, if you wanted a cabin Whaler in this size, you HAD to get the new style and shape. Also of interest, using this same cuddy cabin shell, with the addition of a low windshield, forward helm station and a side piece, they made a "Revenge Cuddy" model. You have a Cetacea picture of Don M in his stern drive model of this rare boat. |

The notation of a "Revenge Cuddy" now makes sense of much of the naming conventions. Let's see if I have it right: Revenge means mainly a fixed windshield, a twin console design, and some type of forward accommodations. Thus we have several variants of Revenges, including the Revenge Walk-Through, the Revenge Walk-Around, the REvenge Cuddy, the original (Revenge), and the later Vee-Revenge. And in the Outrage series we have the Outrage, the Vee-Outrage, and the Outrage Center Console Cuddy. Did I miss any? |

Revenge Walkaround Hardtop? The nice one now for sale in Washington state. It should be noted that the Walkaround model was only available in 25'. And anything with a "Cuddy" name in it, only 22 & 25. All the others in either 20, 22 or 25. Then, of course, beginning in 1987, all of these were available with Whaler Drive. |
