Thanks for the new page Jim. Neat to see innovation at work. |

What color is the final finish? Paint or gelcoat? Turned out really nice! |

Dr. Frankenstein, you're a genius!! I would never have believed that boat would look like it does. Restoration doesn't begin to describe it. |

Great work, Mr. Livingstone! Question: I have noticed that my Montauk will sometimes porpoise with the weight shifted back towards the stern. Have you noticed any tendency to porpoise at WOT? I like the idea of more room in the bow. If you ever want to repower with more horsepower, you may need to shift some weight forward. 29 mph on a 45 hp motor is really plenty fast for that boat anyway (I generally cruise at about 30 on flat water), and I bet that four stroke really sips the gas... Great work, and many thanks to Mr. Schultz and Mr. Klein for sharing their beautiful boats with us - and to Jim for posting the pictures. |

Hello Folks, thanks for your comments on my restored 16 ft whaler. JDH: The color is white and I have to admit that it is paint and not new gelcoat. In fact the paint is Fishermans White - $18.95 CDN per gallon. I had it on my other whaler for three years and it still looked great. This old boat worked hard for 36 years and had already been recoated a number of times with and paint and goodness knows what else. When you look back at the pictures on page 30 when the boat had no floor, the commerical diver was still using it to pour cement and had a 30 hp on it. T Party: The boat doesn't porpoise unless I trim the motor up to much. This winter I am installing a larger gas tank and new steering and will move the consol ahead 6" to offset the additional weight. Thanks again for your comments, David |

Peter, very nice job on my beloved Standard! Nice to see her again. How's she running? |

David - Where did you buy the paint for under $20 CAN a gallon? I live 20 minutes Many Thanks, Jim BTW - The email in your profile didn't work. |

I am about 70% done on mine, doing exactly the same thing to the same size boat. You could save me some time on several items. First, how far from the transom did you locate the center console. What size gas tank are you going to add and where will it be located? What steering are you going to use?? on the subfloor did you use treated plywood, exterior or anything special?? How thick was the plywood??? I have a 70 HP Mercury stroke that I am going to put on the boat. Thanks for you help. After hundreds of hours on my project I am probably one of few that can appreciate the work involved. I like what I am ending up with but I would not do it again. your boat looks great!! |

My whaler is a 1966 and is completely restored , i sent some pictures to you before but you never put them up. But once i get a digital camera, i will send them to you, my whaler (no offence) is all original yet that i put it back into shape. |
