Cetacea Page 63 features photographs Whalers in the 22-27 foot range whose transom options include standard notched transom, Whaler Drive, Stainless Marine bracket, and Inboard/Outboard power. Please use this message thread for comments. |

Regarding the Temptation, they were only offered with Whaler Drive or I/O power. No Sea Drives were offered, as they needed the extra length of the Whaler Drive to get the 450 HP rating plate. I would guess that the owner could tell if the inboard was removed, so my guess would be that the Whaler Drive unit was replaced with the bracket, probably to increase speed. The transom drains were left as is from the WD conversion, but should have the Salisbury 3" exhaust flappers installed over them, a factory detail on the Sea Drive models. It's the first time I have seen a power set up similar to mine, including 1997 Mercs. |

Is the 27 Offshore, featured on page 63 of Cetacea, powered by twin Evinrude 150's??. If so, I am curious what the performance #'s are. |

Acccording to literature from Whaler (which Chuck Bennett was so kind to send), the Temptation was available with SeaDrives. It was also available in 20-foot and 22-foot models. Now that said, it does not mean that they ever actually sold any in those configurations! I've only heard of 25-footers, and, as LHG mentions, most with Whaler Drive or I/O power. |

With Sea Drives, the 25 Temptation would only be able to carry the 300HP rating. My 25, ordered as a "Sea Drive Blank" also has the standard 25' hull 300HP rating. So the boat probably has the 450 HP WD rating, indicating a WD conversion. Technically, in spite of the 450Hp plate, this Temptation is also overpowered, but not many Coast Guard or lawyer types would be sharp enough to catch the situation. |

Are the 200-HP engines the EFI models? If they're not, it may account for some of that thirst for gasoline that Alan reported. And Alan, I feel your pain (a little), but I paid $2.65/gallon on Lake Michigan for gas. And that was not an Imperial gallon, either! If the BVI runs on Imperial gallons, then $2.50/gallon is not too far from what we're paying up here. |

Wow. $1.99 or less in Bayfield... Dave |

Was just in Barbados and forgot to look at what gas went for. they do have 95 octane. I have seen both 20 & 22 Temptations. The 22 being my favorite. |
