This message thread is for comments on Cetacea Page 65 , which first appeared on October 10, 2002, and featured Whalers from Europe, South America, and the South Pacific.

Great shots from around the world. Well put together page. Some of those places look a bit warmer than Alaska.

I noticed some other classics in the first photo... 3 Bertram 31's (65-01).

Great classic lines in 65-11.

I was surprised to see the Yamaha engine on the new 170-MONTAUK in Norway. I guess those Mercury-only bundles don't extend to overseas dealers.

"Deck Fittings
The precise age of this model is not known but it appears to be in great shape. Those deck curves are classical"

I'm NOT gonna go through THAT door.

Great photos though....

Indeed, Jimh, those are some very respectable deck fittings in 65-11. Thanks for making me smile on a rainy Friday in Philly.

I would like to see more of the deck fittings. Interesting mark in the gelcoat on the starboard flank, however. May require closer inspection and/or buffing.

I sent away for one of those cool deck fittings. Wasn't home when it arrived and my wife sent it back.

Next time I'll have it delivered to the office:>)

A partial answer to Jaime's query about his Montauk in photo 65-13 is that if the console is original to the boat then it is clearly not a 1990 model. It would have to be a 1978 to 1982 model.

Great Cetacea-

Think maybe Whaler might take a hint from the photos and offer the hull in black as an option.........looks wonderful. It would match their motors.

I might trade mine in for a new black one.

Traveling overseas for my business I have mentioned Whalers a few times and there is always someone that knows Boston Whalers or has one or knows someone who has one.

These are great examples of the breed. I like to see the restored Chilean Lake Whaler once it gets completed.

nice job to all.

I found the dock facilities shown in images 65-06 and 65-07 to be quite interesting. The launch ramp and dock look very well built. In comparison to some of the facilities we have run into, those docks and ramp look very sturdy and well maintained. Most of the docks we see around the midwest are either all wood or are planked with wood. Those dock in the pictures look like all-metal structures.

The classic Montauk is in great condition, too, of course.

Looking closely at 65-05, is that a red Mischief I see at the dock behind OLGA?
