Is the Garmin GSD 20 SONAR dependable over the long haul? Which Garmin transom mount transducer works most accurately? I have a Garmin 276C which is perfect for a small boat but need to get a sounder for this season. I thought it would make a compact but effective set up. Am I wrong in my thinking? Please may I get some input on this from someone who currently uses Garmin products? Thanks for any help, Mel.

Freshwater or salt? How deep?

That's going to determine which transducer you want.

And what Boston Whaler boat? Most require transom mount, a very few have
a well to install a through hull transducer.

I use the GSD 20 as a back up sounder, hooked up to a 2006C plotter. I have liked it since I installed this spring. For under $200 you can not beat it for a color sounder. Another thing I like is when you make a waypoint and transfer to your computer you will have the depth.

Chucj, It would be fresh and saltwater with a high electrical field and very deep. I know it needs to be a transom mount transducer but Garmin makes two so i was looking for opinions on either.

The boat is a 15' supersport if that helps.

Billy, where did you find the GSD 20 for under 200 bucks? The cheapest i have found is around 250. Please let me know.

Thanks, Mel
