[What is the quality of the] Poly-Planar MRD-60 audio amplifier? I [anticipate installing an audio reproduction and loudspeaker system] on my 170 Montauk. I am just looking for the good, bad, or ugly review. I noticed that they also have a coupon for a free wireless remote if purchased by 2/28/06. |

I had one in my Montauk and it worked great...never a problem. In fact I think it was made for the Montauk. I think you can do everything short of spraying it with a presure washer and it worked. Many times I would have it on while washing the boat. I would scrub the console and stereo with soap and water and rinse it off while listening to some tunes. I also had the 5" PolyPlanar speakers mounted on the front of the console behind the coller seats. I now have a 20 Outrage and I have bought a Poly Planar for that. Below is a link to some pics of the Montauk showing the stereo. I sod it in June 2005. Joe |

Joe, Thanks for the information! If you buy a MRD-60 unit (from an authorized dealer) between 11/1/05 and 2/28/06 there is a web coupon for a free wireless remote. www.polyplanar.com/stereos.asp Jack |

Is this discussion really about audio reproduction systems? Or is it a promotion for a discount coupon? |

Jim, It is not about the coupon. I am not affiliated with Poly-Planar in any way, shape, or form. I just wanted a review before I cut holes for installation in my boat. I ended up buying the radio and will post pictures of the installation here, if it will be of help to anyone. Sorry for the confusion and the perception of these posts. Sincerely, Jack |

Jack, I look forward to the pics, this is a project I'm planning for the Spring. I would also be interested in how you think the Polyplanar sounds. Does it have provision for aux input from an i-pod? |

Dave, They sent me a PDF of the manual before I bought it. I forwarded it to the email address on your profile. There are AUX inputs on the back but I think that it would be a hassle to have an IPOD wired to the back of the unit inside the console. I would call them to get a better understanding of the inputs if you are looking for that feature. Their number off the website is 410.761.4000. Will post the pictures once the install is complete.
