I hava Garmin 3010C GPS/Chartplotter, looking to add a either 2KW or 4KW Garmin Radar. Searched for reviews online but could not find any. Like the radar/chartplotter overlay, know about the heading sensor. Please share your exprience with these units. Also, the current battery configuration is 2 batteries with 1 switch, would I need to install an extra battery (especially for 4KW radar) and what is the best way to do it? An extra switch, tie into existing switch, if you have any diagrams please share.
Thank you,
Roman

The Garmin GMR 40 is speced to draw 25 watts. That's about
2 Amps at 12V (Watts = Volts * Amps). I don't think you
need a separate battery, but I wouldn't leave it running for
hours with the motor off.
