Owner has owned the 1988 17 footer since new, he says nobody has ever worked on wiring of bow nav light. Wire to junction box on starboard side was repaired at factory by two butt splices and electrolisis has finally taken its toll. Broken end of wires is now buried in foam about 4 to 6 inches forward, inside gunnell? How do I replace the wiring when it is buried in foam?

You may be able to take the bow light off, attach new wire or something like and electician fish tape, or simply a wire coat hanger and see if you can pull it through. If not, you may could drill a small hole through the foam to run the wires for the light.

The wire only runs through foam from one side of the hull to the other. Apart from that, the wiring from the bow light to the junction box in the stern runs behind the rub rail insert. Just pull the run rail insert and you will see how easy it is to replace it.
