Here is some information on the NMEA-2000 instrumentation from Lowrance.

LMF-200 --$90

The LMF-200 is a 2-inch NMEA 2000® Multifunction Gauge. Capable of showing data in Single Digital, Dual Digital, Single Analog, Trim Tab, Engine, Diagnostics, Engine Trim and Engine Synchronizer formats. Capacity for up to 16 pages in the queue. Page scrolling from 1 to 60 seconds. Dash Light Sense, Backlight, and Reverse Video control of itself and other gauges over the bus.

LMF-400--$140
The LMF-400 is a 4-inch NMEA 2000® Multifunction Gauge. Similar features as the LMF-200 with the following additional page formats: Dual Analog, Quad Analog, and Quad Digital. Both units are capable of displaying the following NMEA 2000 data:
Paddlewheel Speed
GPS Speed
Tachometer
Battery Voltage
Alternator Voltage
Engine Temperature
Water Pressure
Engine Oil Pressure
Fuel Pressure
Boost Pressure
Transmission Oil Pressure
Atmospheric Pressure
Temperature
Depth
Engine Load
Engine Hours
Fuel Flow
Fuel Economy/Fuel Remaining
Fuel Used
Fuel Range
Trip Fuel Used
Season Fuel Used
Engine Synchronizer
Fluid Level
GPS Position
Trim Tab Position
Engine Trim Position
Engine Alarms Warnings

Other typical system components:

Power Cable--$40
Supplies 12-volt DC power from battery to instrumentation bus.

Node Kit--$40
120-Ohm Terminators (2), T-connector, 2-foot drop cable. Most networks will need one of these.

T-Connector--$15
For adding additional devices.

ELECTRONIC PROBES

EP-10 Fuel Flow Sensor--$50

EP-15 Fuel Level Probe--$50

EP-25 Speed Sensor--$50

EP-35 Temperature Probe--$50

You will also need backbone cables to tie this together:

Extension Cable 2-feet--$15

Extension Cable 12-feet--$25

Extension Cable 25-feet--$45

Here is a little system using the above components:

Qty - Part Name - Price

1 - LMF-400 @ $140
1 - Fuel Flow EP-10 @ $50
1 - Fuel Level EP-15@ $50
1 - Speed EP-25 @ $50
1 - Temp EP-35 @ $50
5 - T Connector @ $15 = $75
1 - 15-foot Ext. Cable @ $25
1 - Node Kit @ $40
1 - Power Cable @ $40

This will cost $520.

The prices mentioned above are from a retailer's website (Cabala's). I was a bit surprised at the cost to get the system going. For a single instrument I think $520 is a bit on the high-end of the price range.

Of course, once you have the system, it costs little to add more devices. How do you feel about the pricing of these products?

I just noticed on the Lowrance site that there is a new Water Pressure Sensor for this system, the EP-45. It is mentioned in the Lowrance Net section of the web site, but not yet on the product/price listing. I've also found some good online deals for the LMF-400 for less than $160, including the fuel flow sensor in the bundle as well as the gauge unit. BillS

I agree $520 is high, but Cabela's is often MSRP. I am able to beat their prices on hunting gear 80% of the time. Not sure about marine electronics, although I did beat their price on my Lowrance GPS/Sonar.

$520? No, thank you.

Where can I find the necessary information to determine what cables are necessary to add to the existing wiring presently configured to the Systems Check tach included in my recent purchase?

I would like to add a fuel usage gauge, temp and hour meter....

Jay--See the article titled:

I-Command™ Digital Instrumentation from BRP

http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000893.html

It contains links to many resources which will give you detailed information about how to configure and install a NMEA-2000 gauge system. This thread is concentrating on the prices of such installations.

Even at the $520 level, the instrumentation system is quite good. You are getting an enormous amount of information to the gauges.

Many people pay far more than $520 for just a Flo-Scan fuel flow meter. Even the less expensive NAVMAN 3100 fuel flow meter costs about $300. The above system includes all of that functionality.

You can add a LGC-2000 GPS sensor to the system for about $240. This will give you a great deal of additional information. Or, you can easily network with a GPS chart plotter.

Pricing at Cabella's seems high. The LMF-400 display at Scuba Steve's (scubasteve.biz) is $118.25, the LMF-400 version with the EP-10 sensor is $157.75. I would imagine everything is is comparably priced. Now your under $500. :)
