My center console has a 110 envinrude. I recently used it and experienced electrical problems. 1. battery dead, charged and engine started. 2. after running engine ignition switch would not cut engine off. 3. next time tried to start motor starter was turning but seemed to be turning the wrong way so that it would not engage flywheel.
Does anyone have an idea of how to troubleshoot these problems.

Thanks, Randal

So how did you stop it without the ignition switch?
How long till the "next time"?

I suspecting something is draining the battery, probably the
ignition switch that won't cut off.

A starter that spins but won't engage can be a sign of a
tired but not dead battery.

The starter will only spin backwards if you have pos and
negative switched at the battery (and maybe not even then,
depending on motor type). And if you switched those, you
HAVE fried the rectifiers.
