I just looked at the Optima batteries and I could not find one with 1000 MCA which is needed to run a Mercury OptiMax. Did I look too quickly?

There are two candidates. The 34M has an MCA of 1000 and a CCA of 800 and the D31M has an MCA of 1125 and a CCA of 900. My Opti 135 service manual calls for a minimum CCA of 750 and MCA of 1000, so either one would do the job.

My 2004 90 OptiMax calls for 800/1000. I looked at the Optima "OptiMax approved" battery and decided to go with the Cabelas group 24 AGM. I wanted a dual purpose battery Which met or exceeded my OptiMax requirements.

I just ordered the 1000M and the D900 from summit racing.

There is another place in florida that sells them at rock bottom prices.

hope that helps
