I have a 2005 13 SPORT and it comes with an aluminum stern navigation lamp that stores under the console and plugs in on top of the console.

The problem is the lamp pole is starting to corrode, the bulb falls out while in storage. and the two connections pull out from the base. All in all, to be honest, after owning three previous great Boston Whaler boats, this pole is really a pice of junk.

Since I know I am not the only one with this problem, what other lamps are folks using to replace this rather poor design? I would like to add maybe a stainless steel pole, or another design. Do I need to mount this on the hull where there is a wood block behind the gelcoat? I wonder if that block exists on the modern 13's? Is there a stainless steel lamp bar that fits the proper angle? THANKS!

Boston Whaler tends to use electrical lamp fixtures made by ATTWOOD due to the corporate relationship of both to Brunswick. If the existing lamp fixture is not working well for you, there are several other manufacturers of navigation lamps that might offer something more suitable. Have you checked the PERKO and AQUA-SIGNAL catalogues?

You might also inquire with your dealer about this. The Boston Whaler hull warranty is often liberally interpreted to cover some other components such as this.
