I need to clean the green corrosion from my bow light wire so I can get solder to stick to it.

I have very little slack left and flux wasen't enough to get it to stick. I also tried wiping it with a clean rag and hit it with a wire brush.

I do recall a mixture of chemicals that cleans copper but can't remember what it was. If I recall correctly it isn't possible for me to replace the bow light wire without destroying my rub rail......

Thanks in advance for any help......

P.S. The boat is a 77' 13 footer.....

I've tried some chemicals, but none worked.
