SIMRAD offers upgrade software for the NavStation series CX/34/44/54 which provides engine monitoring in addition to GPS/Chart, Radar and fishfinder displays.

Having read the upgraded manual version 4.20, the unit can monitor up to four motors (Look at chapter 7).

Engine status
Fuel status
Battery status
For dual engines, the system provides ‘dual bar analog instruments’ to give a precise overview of the rpm synchronization and to make direct comparison of data between the two engines.
I think that's a good new for the rather small consoles we have on our classic's and post classic's.
Hope this will cut cost on some proprietary gauges.

Thanks for this interesting news. It is another example of how an industry standard protocol (NMEA-2000) is gaining momentum. More companies are adopting it, and as this happens the standard will become even more powerful.
