Does anyone that has one of these installed have the size of the unit (LxWxH)? I am planning on making a teak box for the top of the console and would prefer to mount the radio in there if it will fit? Thanks |

The owners manual is on the Standard Horizon website. All the numbers are in section 16.... http://www.standardhorizon.com/ |

Why not mount it in the console? That's what it's designed for. You can hang it from the top of the console.

You ganin nothing by mounting the unit on your console. It has one button on/off. All the controls for the radio on the mic. Here are some pictures of my installtion. Under console installation ...... http://home.earthlink.net/~bluewaterpirate/sitebuildercontent/ sitebuilderpictures/wiring.jpg Mic helm area install ...... http://home.earthlink.net/~bluewaterpirate/sitebuildercontent/ sitebuilderpictures/phat1.jpg I use it as a backup to my ICOM 504. Overview of helm area ....... fits nicely in a small space. Tom |

I actually found the owners manual after posting. it did not appear in the list of all owners manuals, rather I had to go to the specific product page. As for installing the radio on the top of the console, that was not my intent. My intent was/is to make a locking teak box that fits the console top and to install the radio inside that, rather than inside the console. I agree that installing it at the very top of the console is an option, as is just reinstalling the one from my t-top. You can see a nice picture of an electronics box here |

Tom, I don't think you have enough chartplotters. |

Spent 31 years in the Navy installing & fixing electronics equipment....I always want a back up. Plus, I fish my Whaler 50 miles offshore on a regular basis. I have another hand held in the ditch bag. Tom |

And I thought I had a lot, with one Lowrance in the console, another detachable for the side-scan sonar, and a handheld Garmin in the ditch bag ... |

Oh I forgot, also a Standard Horizon CP150 in the overhead electronics box (came with the boat, not used much now). Maybe we're even! |

If you haven't purchased the radio yet, consider the PS2000 as a better option. It has been price reduced to just a little more than the PS1000. |

If you start looking at PS2000 units, compare apples to apples and make sure you're comparing prices on units that come with a microphone. Some of the PS2000 units are just a radio without the Ram+ microphone. Some sites throw in the CMP25 Ram+ microphone for less than others sell a bare radio. |

I think I am going to reinstall my current one and spend the money on a new antenna. |
