Author Topic:   AIS: STANDARD HORIZON Already Displays AIS

In talking to the resident guru (R. Jason Kennedy, Executive Vice President, Marine Marketing) at the Standard Horizon booth at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show last month, I ran across the seldom mentioned fact that the new Standard Horizon GPS Chart Plotters (such as the CP180, CP180i, CP300, CP300i, CPV350) are already capable of displaying AIS targets, providing you happen to have an AIS receiver on board and wired up.

Obviously, I'm going to have to play with this feature and see what it tells me when I send an AIS message into my CP180i.

So does the Garmin 2000,3000,4000 models.

Thanks for the interesting information. A screen shot showing an AIS target displayed would be very interesting to see.

The Garmin 292/298/392/398/492/498 are also AIS-capable.
