I have a 2000 18ft Ventura with a Mercury Optimax with smartguages. Recently I noticed the light the illuminates the Fuel Gauge stays on even after you turn the boat off. Any suggestions on what might be causing this?

Thanks for the help.

Gauge illumination is usually controlled by a separate circuit. This is often labeled "COMPASS" as it also controls illumination of the compass, as well as other gauges.

The Mercury trade name for their digital instruments is SmartCraft not smartguages [sic]. They're nice gauges, buy the "smart" refers to their ability to figure out by themselves what motor they're connected to, and not to any particularly special intelligence in the data they show.
