I have a 1982 Montauk. I [seek] advice on an inexpensive, well-built fishfinder and sounder. I like the Raymarine stuff but have no attachment either way. Thanks--Steve

Do you want color or black and white?

How much depth sounding range do you need?

What is your price range?

Do you primarily want to locate fish or just to sound the bottom?

Good questions, first I am looking to stay below $500.00. I liked the Raymarine DSM400 but it may be discontinued. As for features and use;

Color display
Transom Mount Transducer
Spped & Temp
Used for primarily for sounding navigating the bays and rivers of the North Shore of Mass.
As for fish finding , I see this developing in the coming years as my (2) three year olds get interested in fishing.
