Here are a few videos of Tropical Storm Barry as displayed on my Garmin 545. My wife and I were heading offshore this morning but we changed our mins. Thanks for indulging me in regards to XM Weather functionality .... I just think it gives you a leg up in regards to safety especially if you fish offshore.

Watching your latest videos I was thinking about my Dad teaching me to navigate in the late 1960s. On the sailboat we had a compass, sumlog, paper charts, and a Heath-kit flasher depth sounder.

We knew bad weather was coming looking at the clouds just before we got wet.

I like the new way better.

I didn't realize that you can get all the NOAA Buoy data as well on the new XM WX. That is a very nice feature to have.

I bought a 545s a month ago for my dad - awesome unit - every time I view one of your extremely detailed reviews, I learn more about the unit for when I get to use it and consider upgrading it to the vision chip and XM! Nice job with your reviews!

I sometimes wonder how we ever got by without all this fancy stuff.

I love the stuff, but am always cautiously optimistic that it will work when I need it the most. I subscribe to Murphy's law, which states that the best of equipment will serve the vast majority of boaters well most of the time, but fail me at the point when I need it the most like in bad weather, a rescue situation etc. Other than my being paranoid, this stuff is fantastic!
