Trying to hook up a Garmin 3006. The wires from the antenna are super thin. I don't know if my wire cutter/crimping tool is bad but the smallest size is 18-22AWG and thats too big for the wires. Am I suppsed to directly hook up the power wires to the distribution panel or am I supposed to tap them into the garmin power wires which then directly connect to the distribution panel?

If the wires are too small for your crimper, solder, and
cover with Ancor glue-lined heat shrink. But are you using
crimps for 16-22 ga? (should be red in color) I'd solder
in any event where possible.

The Antenna doesn't care whether the power comes direct from
the battery, the distribution panel, or picks it up further
along, as long as power and ground gets there. I would pick
up power and ground close together. (In other words, don't
run the ground to battery and +12V to the distribution panel).
I'd also make sure the GPS and Antenna were on the same Acc
(or whatever) switch and fuse.

Does the owner's manual offer any advice on how to install the device?
