I want to connect my Garmin GPSMAP298 to my RayMarine 54E
In the GARMIN Book they show
The RayMarine book shows
Has anyone done these connections.
Also the RayMarine VHF/DSC has a water resistant socket
Where can I get the corresponding Male plug to put on the Garmin Cables.

The RayMarine54E has the male plug, I need the corresponding female socket

Wire GPS NMEA OUT to VHF NMEA +. Whre VHF NMEA - to Ground.

I contacted my RayMarine dealer where I got the VHF/DSC and sure enough they had left the female socket and wiring tail out of the box.
Anyway now I have that it does not look so ominous.
I just have to decide if I connect the blue or brown NMEA cable. The book says the blue but on another forum a guy reckons he had to switch over to the brown to get it to work.
Anyway no big deal as I will set it all up and test before installing it

Howdy, I would assume you are trying to put GPS data into your Ray 54E radio. If this is true, then the hook-up would be as follows:
GARMIN GPS Connections Ray 54E Connections
NMEA OUT (blue wire) to GPS+ (yellow wire)

Thanks yes those were the connections. I just wish GARMIN had run the cables for about 12" before splitting the transducer cabling off. then I could have got away with just one hole and one stainless steel gland in the console for the cables
It would have made for a much neater look
