1995 48 SPL - No Oil Tank, No VRO Owned Boat/Motor since new and sits in barn most of time has 25.7 hours on motor. Put new battery in and backed boat up to test tank. Alarn horn would sound for a second then go off - pefect. Engine runs a little rough but smoothed out after a while as far as two cycles go. Next morning (engine dead cold) turned key on not even trying to start it and alarn turned on and stayed on - constant beep. In the afternoon turned key on (engine dead cold) and alarm stayed on but this time pulsing. I have disconected wire at temp switch and alarm stays on, disconected tan wire at horn and horn stays on. Not very good with meters and such. What are some simple test or suggestions. Maybe route a seperate (tan) wire from alarm to temp switch or?????

To find out if the electronics in the horn are faulty or if there is a problem with a temp switch or wiring, remove the tan wire from the horn. If the alarm still sounds, then the horn is bad. If no sounds, then there is a problem in the boat wiring, engine wiring, or switch. |

sorry hit a wrong key I guess, but did take off wire from horn and temp switch and horn still sounds. May even have something rolling around in it. Called around local boat shops most do not know about horn switch. One did but was out of part but wanted 68.00 for it seems a bit high for a little horn. |
