NOAA has a website where you can browse their chart collection. This is very handy for viewing charts without having to use an ENC viewer. See: |

I have been using Marineplanner.com for researching areas beyond my knowledge. While not the easiest to navigate and print. It's free |

The local newspaper recently had an article which included the following link. http://navquest.com/ In addition to showing you the charts in a viewer which you can pan and zoom, it also offers trip routing. |

I have been using Maptech's CHART NAVIGATOR which is available for free. http://www.maptech.com/water/chartNavigator/index.cfm The charts are all available for free also. http://www.freeboatingcharts.com/ Once all the charts for an area are downloaded and installed, this program allows you to zoom in and out as well as scale in and out. You can also import/export waypoints and routes to your GPS. It is worth every penny. |
