Finished adding an ICOM 504 Rear Mic Model and moving my Garmin 545 CP. I replaced a Standard Horizon Phantom 1000 with the ICOM 504 and moved the 545 up on the helm by using a 1.5" piece of StarBoard. While I liked the Phantom 1000 I wasn't happy with the way it displayed information (it scrolled the data at the top of the mic) and the size of the mic.
The ICOM 504 RM is a Class D VHF that is suitable for in console/remote mounting. The 504 RM VHF was released earlier this year for boaters who have a linited amount of console space. It comes with ICOM's stardard VHF Mic and you can add the Command Mic II or III if you desire. There is a 20' mic extension cable that comes with the 504 so it gives you plenty of cable to mount the standard mic anywhere you want. The downside to the standard mic is that you cannot fully control the 504 (you can talk, change channels). To gain these extra control features you have to purchase the ICOM Command Mic (CM) II or III. The benefit of adding the Command Mic is that you can fully control the 504 base unit using the CM. It has the same functionality/display capablity as the base 504 unit. If you have both mics connected it has doubles as an intercom.
Here are some pictures of the final product.

When will the used PS1000 show up in the Whaler Marketplace? If I had two then I wouldn't have to decide which boat to mount my current one in.
Beautiful installation, as usual... Left a puddle of druel on my keyboard looking at those photos with my jaw wide open.
