I just got a [1987 Mercury BlackMax outboard motor] with no spark. Everything else sounds good. So far it looks like the module is not getting signal to spark. Should I be looking at the stator or the trigger?

Use an AC voltmeter to measure the voltage produced on the various winding of the stator assembly and compare them to the nominal values for your engine.

[The failed component in the 1987 Mercury Black Max] is the stator, but I can't find [a replacement stator] anywhere locally. Where can I get [a replacement stator for a 1987 Mercury Black Max outboard motor]?
