I am having trouble figuring out a GARMIN 540s chart ploter configuration. While viewing the chart I would like to have the "distance to waypoint" or "distance to turn" numbers on the screen as I am navigating. The only way I can figure out how to see the distance-to info is to go to the numbers page and see it there. Can this information be on the navigating chart screen? Thanks, |

Bob .... First you have to select what numbers you want to see. Videos ... http://albums.phanfare.com/4892322/2160001_2325221#imageID=31019975 This is what you will see when navigating a route or to a selected waypoint. http://albums.phanfare.com/4892322/2160001_2325222#imageID=31019937 http://albums.phanfare.com/4892322/2160001_2325218#imageID=31020073 Tom |

Tom - Thanks for posting the how-to videos. On my 540s, when I go to the overlay numbers page, navigation, "auto" the only data it presents for me to see are these: arrive in, bearing, time and off course. It does not list distance to turn as an option for viewing on the chart screen. I have already updated the 540s software a few months ago so that I have a trip page. Do you think there are more updates since that would put the distance to turn as a viewable option while navigating? As I said, I can go to the numbers page and find out my distance to turn but it requires a couple of steps each time I want to see that. Thanks for any help! Bob |

Tom - I figured it out. Turns out there was an additional update that I had not noticed on the Garmin site. I am not sure that solved my problem but it is good to be current. I found I could activate the "distance to waypoint" display on the chart by going to home, configure, numbers overlay, navigation. Going to the chart menu did not give me the distance option for viewing while navigating. Glad it is solved. Thanks, |

Thanks Bob ...... There is a new update coming that will add some things to the unit. I've heard the Compass Page and programable data windows on the main display will return. We shall see. Tom |

Tom, thankyou for your humble and AWESOME Garmin 545 tuitural. I carry my 545s around like a briefcase. The Garmin OEM tuitural is very good but not near as comprehensive as yours. Jim H, I hope you will consider linking Toms info high in the GPS reference section for GPS shoppers and Garmin users. Tom: Is there any way to select different style track lines? I would prefer a thin colored line over the wide black and white line that blurs out areas I frequent. No time to watch all of the vids today, but I plan to visit them often. Thanks again.
