Coming soon to a dealer near you.
Interesting new Garmin GPS.
Both land and sea navigation.
Portable, 5.2" screen, waterproof, NMEA 0183, expensive.
No connection, no affiliation, just browsing,

So I have a question, don't think it's a stupid one either. Why not NMEA 2000? 0183 is quickly becoming ancient history.

Lowrance tried this with the XOG (Cross Over GPS); it hasn't been very successful. The XOG will take the Navionics Gold and Silver Marine Chart SD cards which are very good data chips. Bigggest difference is the XOG only has a 3.5" screen and a USB interface.

Interestingly high list price as well.
My opinion, but think observing a GPS while piloting a moving land motor vehicle is an accident waiting to happen.
If my memory is correct GPS on waterways is an aide to navigation to be used as a supplement to charts.
Oh and don't forget to remove it from your motor vehicle when parking.

Garmin has been in this market for a number of years. The 376c/478 was the 1st crossover hybrid with the same fucntionality of the 620/640. They have sold alot of these units. I use my 376c on the boat and in my truck. The new units are very nice and will be priced in around $890 - 995 retail.
Here are some videos and pictures of the 376c.

The price of GPS and map plotter for automobiles has to be the fasting falling price market in the history of electronics. These products were once over $1,000, but today I see them in supermarkets for $99.
