I was ready to route the P58 transducer cable through the transom, but now I'm unsure what to do after seeing the large size of the connector.

The instructions call for use of a 0.687" drill, but the connector body measures 0.875, not counting the alignment bump which brings it up to 0.900"

The hole required might not even be covered by the supplied cable cover with the Raymarine A-series unit.

Has anyone tried the Airmar junction box that lets you splice the cable? I'm not sure if I should just make the large hole, or use the splice box.

If I run the cable over the transom, I still have to make a hole somewhere to get into the cable area, correct?
