I have an older 24/36v Motorguide(1999)that I would like
to wire for 24v only. This would save me money and reduce
the weight in the back. I can always go back if needed.

I should have been more clearer about my question.
I know how to wire for 24v, but I know which wires to use from the trolling motor it self. I don't want to risk
burning anything up by just touching wire together.
Thanks
